Final Task: Enigma

Image
After many weeks of working hard and many meetings, my group and I finished our opening sequence final task. Overall, the entire process was a challenging yet enjoyable one that was definitely a learning experience. We attempted to be as professional as possible when creating this opening sequence, given the resources provided, and all things considered, we feel like it turned out pretty good.

Editing Blog: Last Minute Touch Ups

On April 14th, Harlow, Juanita and I met up over google meets to finalize a couple things on our title sequence, such as adding titles. We added all the titles that needed to be included such as the director, actors, music by, etc. When doing the titles we started off with putting the titles on a google slides in order for us to test out different fonts and sizes to see what it would look like. We put a green background on it so that when we passed it onto our editing software, which was iMovie, we could use the green screen option to only make the words show up over the shots. It took us a while to find the right font because we felt that all of them were weird and did not fit our title sequence. However, after much deliberation, we decided on the Bakerville font at a 120 pt size font.       When we were re-watching our title sequence, there were many things we found that we needed to change. To begin, we realized that there were many shots that we needed to re-film. A couple of t

Editing Final Task: Adding sound

Image
Throughout the first week and a half of April, we met up several times to discuss the sounds that we would like to input into our music. We thought this would be a simple process but it turned out to be rather difficult and lengthy. The reason it was so difficult was due to the fact that we could not find any songs that we deemed appropriate for the vision we had for our title sequence. The first two times we met up on google meets we spent the entire time researching songs that would both be copyright free and that we would not have to pay for. We then added these songs to a folder on Juanita's computer so that we could later try them out. Once we had a good collection of songs, we went into iMovie, which is our editing software we are using, and started inputting each song one by one and letting the video play to see if it matched or went along. After many trial and error we realized we didn't feel like any of the songs we had chosen fit into our title sequence, so we wen

Final Task Blog: Editing Process

On March 24th, Harlow, Juanita and I got together on google meets to continue our editing process. We had originally started this process with all of the scenes that included the mother due to those scenes being the only ones that we had filmed at the moment. However, ow we needed to edit the rest of the scenes and incorporate those scenes in as well. The very first thing we did was look through all of our footage and pick out the shots that we wanted to use and then sort them. We also took note of all the things we changed while filming that wasn't originally in our storyboard. This proved to be a rather lengthy task, taking us a couple hours, so this was all we were able to accomplish that day.     On March 29th, the three of us got together over google meets again to put together all the shots. When we put together all the scenes and shots we realized that our title sequence was way to long. Due to this we had to cut down a lot of shots or just straight up remove some of t

Final task Production blog: Finishing the Filming Process

Image
On March 22, my group and I officially finished the filming process. As mentioned in the perviously blog, we finished re-filming scene 8 and part of 9 but we also finished the last part of scene 9 on the same day as well. When filming scene 9, we had a bit of trouble filming the scene in which the daughter is reaching for a bowl from the cabinet and then serving herself crackers. This was due to the size of the kitchen. It was a bit crowded when we tried with the cameraman, being me, inside the kitchen. What we decided to do instead was film that scene through an opening that was on the side of the kitchen. The shot still looks like how it was intended but its not as close as it was when the shot was filmed from inside the kitchen. The cameraman being outside also helped maintain Covid-19 guidelines, since we had to be 6 feet apart due to Harlow not being able to wear her mask. Another minor detail we changed was that in the script we put that she would grab carrots out of the fr

Final Task Production Blog: Refilming

On March 22, I went over to Harlow's house to re-film scenes 8 and and part of 9. Juanita, unfortunately, could not come due to her already having plans with her family. Since there was only one actor in these scenes we figured that it wouldn't be necessary for a whole other person to be there so we continued with the plan. The reason we had to re-film was due to the fact that Harlow got a haircut, so she looked different. Since we still had parts of scene 9 to film, we realized that the change in her appearance would be noticeable so we just decided to re-film scene 8 and part of 9.    When re-filming these scenes, we did make a couple changes from the story board and even from the last time we filmed too. For starters, in the beginning of scene 8, Harlow was originally supposed to fully open the door and then fully close it but we changed that to Harlow just half closing the door. We did this because we realized that this would match better with the previous shot, which wa
