    My group and I decided to do a country song for our music video. After much debate we decided on the song “You Should Be Here” by Cole Swindell. Some conventions found in country song music videos are that they tend to follow a storyline throughout the video and that the storyline usually relates to the lyrics of the song. The storyline of the video is usually used to further convey the true message that the song sends. Country music videos also tend to use mise en scene such as cowboy hats, boots, jeans with big buckle belts, and button down shirts. Usually the setting of these videos are in rural areas or isolated areas where there are less people.     Our music video follows country music video conventions in the way that the storyline of our video relates to the lyrics of our song.     This music video was very fun to make and overall taught us many things about the filmmaking process. Working with a group helped us all learn how to compromise, make team efforts, and split workloads. Not only this, but this project further developed our skills when it came to filming scenes and editing footage.      At first, we were indecisive about our plans and were having a hard time making decisions as a group. We weren't positive about the song, the themes, the scenes, or even the genre. After extensive discussions, we all agreed on the song “You Should Be Here” by Cole Swindell and decided we wanted the theme of this music video to be sorrowful.       My group and I decided to start the editing process the same day we finished filming, which was December 4th. We decided to do this because it had already been so difficult for all of us to get together due to the pandemic and so we thought it would be best to take advantage of the time we had together. We decided to edit our music video on the program iMovie since the four of us were very familiar with the program.     While we were filming we decided to do multiple takes of each scene so we had backup footage incase certain parts of shots were no useable. However, because of this, this meant that we had a lot of footage to sort through. The four of us got together and all looked at each take we filmed one by one and then selected the takes that we thought would work the best for what we were trying to achieve in our music video.             My group and I decided to start filming on Wednesday December 2. After the many obstacles that we had to overcome in order to get together and film we finally agreed upon a date. My group members and I all met up at one of our group member's house.  Due to certain circumstances revolving Covid and the safety of our group members, we could not go to the house we had originally planned to film at, and therefore some scenes had to be filmed differently than what the story board stated.       An example of this is the fireplace scenes that we had included in our story board. The house of the group member we had originally planned to film in had a fire pit in which we could shoot those specific scenes, the house we ended up filming at, however, did not.        My group an I had previously decided to start filming our music video between the dates 11/20/20 and 11/30/20. These dates were also when our school district had thanksgiving break scheduled for. This year for thanksgiving break we got a whole week off of school so we thought that would be the perfect time to film. Our original plan was to go to one of our group member's house and film most of the scenes there, however, we ran into a couple problems the week of our break. To start off, the family member of one of our group mates got Covid-19. She had no other option but to quarantine for two weeks which meant she would not be able to film on the dates scheduled. The group member's house also happened to be the house at which we were planning to film in and had based our storyboard off of.      On top of that, the parents of another group member surprised her with a trip to Massachusetts for Thanksgiving break which meant she wouldn't be here on ...

First Scene The video starts off with a pan of someone sitting alone by a fireplace. They look sad and are reminiscing the times they spent with a loved one. Second Scene In the second scene, it flashes back to a memory that the actor had of them and the loved one by the fireplace. In this memory they seem to both be enjoying the moment. Third Scene In the third scene, the loved one is seen fading away and only the actor is left. This shows that the loved one has passed away. Fourth Scene In the fourth scene, the actor remembers a memory of them pushing the deceased loved one on the swings. They are both laughing and they look like they are having fun together. Fifth Scene  In the fifth scene, the person on the swing fades away and the actor is left alone. Flowers lie beneath the swing that the deceased loved one was swinging on moments ago. Props: We decided to make a music video with Cole Swindell’s song, You Should Be Here. When we record we will be looking back at memories of times we had with our past friend, so we will need casual every-day clothes. One of the scenes will be filmed in a bonfire, so we will need the bonfire and chairs. We will also need flowers and a picture frame that will be used to show the friend we are commemorating. We will probably use many other props that will come up once we start filming.  Costumes: There will be many people in the music video and there will be different costumes for certain scenes. Most will be casual outfits that resemble going to common places and errands. Schedule: On 11/16/20, we will research the common camera movements, angles, and characteristics of a country music video.
