Music Video Filming Blog
My group an I had previously decided to start filming our music video between the dates 11/20/20 and 11/30/20. These dates were also when our school district had thanksgiving break scheduled for. This year for thanksgiving break we got a whole week off of school so we thought that would be the perfect time to film. Our original plan was to go to one of our group member's house and film most of the scenes there, however, we ran into a couple problems the week of our break. To start off, the family member of one of our group mates got Covid-19. She had no other option but to quarantine for two weeks which meant she would not be able to film on the dates scheduled. The group member's house also happened to be the house at which we were planning to film in and had based our storyboard off of.
On top of that, the parents of another group member surprised her with a trip to Massachusetts for Thanksgiving break which meant she wouldn't be here on the days we had planned to film. In addition, the third member of our group was in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19. She and her family got tested and the results came back negative but she nonetheless had to quarantine for two weeks as advised by the CDC guidelines. With three of the four group members not being able to film, that meant most of the work would have to fall on one person, that person being me. Most scenes require more than one person to be present during the filming process so that would have not worked out. Not only this, but we would not have been able to film at the main setting that we had originally planned to film. This is due to the group member whose house was the main setting being in quarantine. We, therefore, decided that the best option was for us was to postpone the filming process and move it to a date in which everyone was in town and everyone was Covid free/safe.
Even though we couldn't get together over break to film, we used the time we had to plan out what we would do once our circumstances improved and we would be able to once again meet up. During this time we discussed what props we would be incorporating throughout the music video and how we would want to film each scene. The postponing of the filming process, unfortunately, meant that we would not have all the free time that the break had provided us with. We all had school and many of us had extracurriculars after school so planning a time in which we were all available proved rather difficult. At the end of the day we worked out a resolution and came up with a date in which we would all be able to film.
