Introduction to the Music Video Project
For this music video project I decided to do it with three of my friends, Juanita, Abby and Ashlyn. We figured that by working together the project would be much less stressful than if we had done it separately since we could divide the workload. In the past, the four of us have worked together well. We all get along pretty good and are able to coordinate plans well. We have always produced good quality work that is on time whenever we have worked on projects together. Therefore, we decided that for this project it would be best for us to work together in a group.
For this project we decided to do the song "You Should be Here" by Cole Swindell. The reason we chose this song was because it went with the theme that we wanted the music video to have. We wanted our music video to be a sad and gloomy video in which the passing of a loved one is described. We wanted the song to really emphasize the storyline of our video and contribute to the theme that it had. We decided that this song did just that.
The song we choose has a soft tune to it that would go really well with the scenes we are planning on filming. This song in particular describes the artist's thoughts as he remembers a loved one that has passed away. This song describes how the artist feels now that the loved one is gone and how he wishes they were still here. The artist expresses that the loved one would enjoy the experiences that he is currently going through and this saddens him.
This song would be a good fit to our music video because it emphasizes the grief of losing a loved one which would help highlight the message and main idea of our music video. The song would bring the point of the whole video across. It would emphasize that the video is about an individual who is reminiscing on the times they spent with a loved one who is not here anymore. This song would allow the audience to better understand what is going on in each scene and would add to the way they view the video. The song's combination of soft melodies with the sad lyrics lets the audience know that the music video is sorrowful.
