Planning Storyboard for my Bissell Vacuum Commercial

 

First Scene

In the first scene, I will have a bowl of cheerios dropping to the floor in slow motion. Music will be playing in the background while the camera captures the cheerios spilling everywhere and making a mess.  This scene will be filmed from two different angles in two different shots. The first shot will be a high angle shot and the second a low angle shot.

Second Scene

The second scene will capture the aftermath of the bowl of cheerios spilling everywhere. This shot will capture the mess that was made and that now has to be cleaned up. This will be done by using a pan shot to overlook all the cheerios on the floor. The use of zoom will also be incorporated into the scene to further point out the mess of cheerios that are on the floor.

Third Scene

In the third scene, the actor of the commercial will appear holding the Bissell vacuum in a heroic looking way. This will be achieved by using a tilt shot in which the camera starts at the bottom and moves up while filming.

Fourth Scene

The forth scene will show the actor using the vacuum to clean up the cereal that had been previously spilled all over the floor. This scene will include closeups of the vacuum nozzle vacuuming the cheerios. It will also include a tracking shot in which the camera tracks the movement of the vacuum as it sweeps across the floor full of cheerios.

Fifth Scene

The fifth scene will display the vacuum being used by the actor on a rug. The vacuum will be seen cleaning up cheerios from a rug. This is meant to show to the audience that the vacuum can be used on more than one surface. This will show that the vacuum can also be used on rugs and carpets. In this scene a low angle shot as well as a tracking shot will be used to display the vacuum's cleaning capabilities.

Sixth Scene

In the sixth scene, the setting changes and we are now outside. In this scene the actor will be seen using the vacuum to clean up cheerios from the inside of the car. This will be achieved by using a tracking shot to follow the vacuums path as it cleans up the cheerios from the floor of the car. This scene will show to the audience that the Bissell vacuum is not only intended for household uses, but also for other uses such as cleaning your car.

*Each scene will be about 4-6 seconds and will have music playing in the background all throughout it.

   This past weekend, on March 6, we go together, and as mentioned in the past blog filmed some of the scenes we needed for our final task. However, since we were limited on the scenes we could film due to the unavailability of some actors, we decided to use this time wisely and do other things as well, other then film. For one, we rehearsed future scenes that we knew would need a couple takes to get right. We felt that rehearsing these scenes would make the process run much smoother on the day we actually filmed the scene. One of the scenes we rehearsed was the scene in which the daughter has a conversation with her neighbor. We wanted to rehearse this scene in particular because this scene is the scene that contains the most dialogue out of the entire project, so we knew it would do us some good if we already started practicing and memorizing some of the lines. Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions       I decided to do a Bissell Vacuum commercial. These types of commercials usually take place within what would be considered a typical household and feature the vacuum while in action. These commercials usually include shots of the vacuum in use on different surfaces. These different surfaces  include  surfaces like tile, wood, and carpet. Props for these types of commercials often include spilled items such as a cereal, pet food, etc. These commercials also many times use samples of a certain type of flooring. For example, a sample piece of carpet that isn't necessarily installed. Many of these commercials also include a shot of someone trying to use other vacuum cleaners that are not their brand and struggling with it. This further emphasizes to the audience that their vacuum is better than the average vacuum from their competitors. Editing Final Task: Adding sound

   Throughout the first week and a half of April, we met up several times to discuss the sounds that we would like to input into our music. We thought this would be a simple process but it turned out to be rather difficult and lengthy. The reason it was so difficult was due to the fact that we could not find any songs that we deemed appropriate for the vision we had for our title sequence. The first two times we met up on google meets we spent the entire time researching songs that would both be copyright free and that we would not have to pay for. We then added these songs to a folder on Juanita's computer so that we could later try them out. Once we had a good collection of songs, we went into iMovie, which is our editing software we are using, and started inputting each song one by one and letting the video play to see if it matched or went along.
