Planning for my Bissell Vacuum Commercial

Props:

For this commercial I will be focusing on the Bissell Zing Vacuum. Some other props I will be using also include a bowl of cereal and a rug.

Costumes:

In this commercial, my actors will be my mom and my sister. Both of them would wear regular, everyday clothes. They would probably wear just a t-shirt with jeans or a casual dress. They would probably have a casual hairstyle and not anything that would look too fancy.

Schedule:

On October 22, 2020, I will research the different conventions of other vacuum commercials, more specifically Bissell vacuum commercials.

On October 23, 2020, I will figure out my props, costumes, schedule, location list, and my backup plan.

On October 25, 2020, I will create a story board for my vacuum commercial. This storyboard will include a basic outline on what I want my commercial to look like.

On October 27, 2020, I will record all the shots and scenes I plan on having in my commercial. after that, I will also write my filming blog which is reflective of what I previously did that day.

On October 28, 2020, I will use this day to put together and edit all of my footage. I will also use this day to review the commercial and make sure everything, such as my transitions, are running smoothly. After, I will write my editing blog.

Location List:

    One of the locations I plan to film at is the kitchen of my house. In the kitchen I plan on having an actor spill cereal all over the floor and then have them come out with the Bissell vacuum. It would then cut to shots of the vacuum cleaning the cereal that had previously been spilled all over the kitchen floor.

  My second filming location would be one of the bedrooms in my house that has a rug in it. Here, I plan on also having an actor spill an item on the rug and then have that actor clean the mess up with the Bissell vacuum. This would show the audience that the Bissell vacuum works well on more than one type of surface.

Backup Plan:

    If one of my actors can't for some reason be in the commercial I will either ruse another family member as an actor or have myself be in the commercial. If for some reason my house cannot be used in the commercial and I can't go to someone else's house I would film the commercial in my driveway and use my mom's car in the scenes. I would film shots of the vacuum cleaning different surfaces throughout the inside of the car.

   This past weekend, on March 6, we go together, and as mentioned in the past blog filmed some of the scenes we needed for our final task. However, since we were limited on the scenes we could film due to the unavailability of some actors, we decided to use this time wisely and do other things as well, other then film. For one, we rehearsed future scenes that we knew would need a couple takes to get right. We felt that rehearsing these scenes would make the process run much smoother on the day we actually filmed the scene. Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions       I decided to do a Bissell Vacuum commercial. These types of commercials usually take place within what would be considered a typical household and feature the vacuum while in action. These commercials usually include shots of the vacuum in use on different surfaces. These different surfaces  include  surfaces like tile, wood, and carpet. Props for these types of commercials often include spilled items such as a cereal, pet food, etc. These commercials also many times use samples of a certain type of flooring. For example, a sample piece of carpet that isn't necessarily installed. Many of these commercials also include a shot of someone trying to use other vacuum cleaners that are not their brand and struggling with it. This further emphasizes to the audience that their vacuum is better than the average vacuum from their competitors. Editing Final Task: Adding sound

   Throughout the first week and a half of April, we met up several times to discuss the sounds that we would like to input into our music. We thought this would be a simple process but it turned out to be rather difficult and lengthy. The reason it was so difficult was due to the fact that we could not find any songs that we deemed appropriate for the vision we had for our title sequence. The first two times we met up on google meets we spent the entire time researching songs that would both be copyright free and that we would not have to pay for. We then added these songs to a folder on Juanita's computer so that we could later try them out. Once we had a good collection of songs, we went into iMovie, which is our editing software we are using, and started inputting each song one by one and letting the video play to see if it matched or went along.
